LABOR PAINS
PART 2
MATTHEW 24:4-8

Please turn in your Bibles to Matthew chapter 24 as we continue our study on the beginning of sorrows, the beginning of labor pains. And as you are turning there, listen to this story by Charles Swindoll. He said:

Maybe you heard about the guy who fell in love with an opera singer. He hardly knew her, since his only view of the singer was through binoculars from the third balcony. But he was convinced he could live "happily ever after" married to a voice like that. He scarcely noticed she was considerably older than he. Nor did he care that she walked with a limp. Her mezzo-soprano voice would take them through whatever might come. After a whirlwind romance and a hurry-up ceremony, they were off for their honeymoon together.

She began to prepare for their first night together. As he watched, his chin dropped to his chest. She plucked out her glass eye and plopped it into a container on the night stand. She pulled off her wig, ripped off her false eyelashes, yanked out her dentures, unstrapped her artificial leg, and smiled at him as she slipped off her glasses that hid her hearing aid. Stunned and horrified, he gasped, "For goodness sake, woman, sing, sing, SING!"

- Charles R. Swindoll, Strike the Original Match

As we have seen with our study on Islam last week, we have peeled off the deceit, it is not a pretty religion. Now I am not saying we are to hate Muslims but I am saying we are not to embrace Islam, we are to share with them the love of Jesus as we would with anyone else that does not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. With that said, let’s read through our text this morning beginning in verse 4 of Matthew chapter 24, and that will lead us into part 2 of our study on labor pains, the beginning of the end!

MATTHEW 24:4-8

Notice what Jesus is saying, don’t be deceived, and thus, I am trying to give to you the information so you can really see what Islam is all about. In our last study we began looking at the 5 deceptions of Islam, and we looked at 2 of them last week.

The first deception we looked at is that ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF LOVE, and we saw that to be untrue. Islam is a religion of submission to Allah, who is a impersonal god, a war god, and that is what his followers live out, violence, terror, death to all who refuse to submit to Allah, and that is not love!

The second deception we looked at is that ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF PEACE, and we again saw that Islam is not a religion of peace, but of war! In fact, millions upon millions have been killed by Muslims, sometimes Muslims killing non-Muslims and other times Muslims killing Muslims, their own people! This religion is filled with war and violence, not with peace!

Now this morning we are going to be looking at the last 3 deceptions of Islam, which are: ALLAH IS ANOTHER NAME FOR GOD, MUSLIMS BELIEVE IN JESUS JUST AS CHRISTIANS DO, and lastly, THE KORAN IS A HOLY BOOK WHOSE WORDS COME FROM OR ARE INSPIRED BY ALLAH!

Some can care less about Islam, about the truth of this religion and its affects on society. They are comfortable in burying their heads in the sand, but that is just plain foolish for you are setting yourself up to be deceived! So let’s continue looking at these deceptions beginning with number 3.

3. ALLAH IS ANOTHER NAME FOR GOD

There is much confusion on this point, this issue today. Many believe that the God of the Bible and the God of Islam are one and the same, Allah is just another way of expressing the God of the Bible. In fact, as I have shared with you last time, Vatican II makes this point very clear when it states:

But the plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims, these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the One, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.

I am very sorry to say this, but the Catholic church and all who adhere to this garbage, are totally wrong, they don’t even come close to the truth. The God of the Bible and the god of Islam are not the same God. And isn’t it interesting that Christians are backing down from their faith to embrace Muslims in this ecumenical unity, while on the other hand Muslims will not back down, many giving their lives for Allah and the spread and world domination of Islam!

First of all our God is a God of compassion. In Psalm 86:15 we are told, "But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth." There are a lot of attributes of God here and yet, just with the attribute of compassion, Allah has no compassion, he is not a caring god, but more of a despot who does not care for his people. But our God is full of compassion!

Our God is gracious as Isaiah 30:18 says, "Therefore the LORD will wait, that He may be gracious to you; and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for Him." And yet, Allah is not gracious towards his people, his is not gracious to anyone!

Our God is holy as Revelation 4:8 tells us, "The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: ‘Holy, holy, holy, lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!’" And yet, neither is Allah or Mohammed holy!

Our God is a just God and a righteous God as Psalm 36:6 says, "Your righteousness is like the great mountains; your judgments are a great deep; O LORD, You preserve man and beast." And yet Allah is not. In fact, in the Koran, Surah 32:13 says, "If we had so willed, we could certainly have brought every soul into true guidance: but the word from me will come ‘I will fill hell with Jinns (demons) and men all together.’" In other words, Allah’s will is that some be not guided aright, but he will inflict punishment on them for not being guided aright. How just, how fair, how righteous is that? Not at all!

And we can go on-and-on showing you the difference between our God and Allah, but let me leave you with this one, our God is a God of love. In Psalm 136:1-5, 26 we read, "Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; for his lovingkindness (endureth) for ever. Oh give thanks unto the God of gods; for his lovingkindness (endureth) for ever. Oh give thanks unto the Lord of lords; for his lovingkindness (endureth) for ever: To him who alone doeth great wonders; for his lovingkindness (endureth) for ever: To him that by understanding made the heavens; for his lovingkindness (endureth) for ever...Oh give thanks unto the God of heaven; for his lovingkindness (endureth) for ever." (ASV).

That is our God, He loves us so much that He paid in full the penalty for our sins, while on the other hand Allah is not a god of love at all, but a god of war! Mohammed died for no man’s sins, he too was a sinner in need of a savior! So please understand that our God is not their god, may we not forget that fact!

4. MUSLIMS BELIEVE IN JESUS JUST AS CHRISTIANS DO

Here is another fallacy that many believe today, and they are totally wrong. Our Jesus is not their Jesus! According to history, before Mohammed, Allah had a wife and 3 daughters, Al-lat, Al-uzza and Manat. And this god Allah, prior to Mohammed, was one of 360 gods they people of Mecca worshiped. The interesting thing we now see is that Islam teaches that God does not beget a son. So I guess he can have 3 daughters but not a son!

How can our Jesus and their Jesus be the same when the Koran and the Muslim faith teaches that God does not beget a son. These blasphemies are inscribed around the Dome of the Rock which is located on the temple mount in Jerusalem. And yet the Scriptures tell us in John 3:16,"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." And in Hebrews 1:1-6, we read, "God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For to which of the angels did He ever say: ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You’? And again: ‘I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to Me a Son’? But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: ‘Let all the angels of God worship Him.’"

Jesus Christ was sinless, Mohammed was not! It is as Hebrews 4:15 says, "For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin." Mohammed never performed a single miracle, while Jesus did many miracles. In fact, John 21:24-25 tells us, "This is the disciple who testifies of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen." And in John 20:30-31 we are told, "And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name."

Also, Mohammed did not die for anyone, he did not pay any penalty for our sins, not even his own, but Jesus did! Peter tells us, "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit." I Peter 3:18.

And lastly, because we can go on-and-on in speaking of the differences between Jesus and Mohammed, there is no possible relationship you can have with Mohammed, for he is dead! On the other hand, the tomb of Jesus is empty, He has risen from the dead! Paul puts it this way in I Corinthians, "But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive." I Corinthians 15:20-22. That is our hope while with Mohammed, there is no hope, only death!

So who is this Jesus that the Muslims revere so much as a prophet, but not greater than Mohammed? In 1994 Yasser Arafat was in Bethlehem at the Church of the Nativity and there he made a speech saying that "Jesus Christ was the first Palestinian revolutionary!" Really. Then his Jesus is not our Jesus!

The Islamic written tradition, which is highly revered, says that Jesus Christ will come again and he will kill the Antichrist in battle, and this Antichrist is a Jew. He will then go to the Temple Mount with 400,000 Muslims and lead them in prayer. He then will lead his Muslim followers and will destroy all crosses on churches, all Synagogues, and all the Jews and Christians will be put to death by Jesus and his Muslim followers. Again, their Jesus is not our Jesus!

In Revelation chapter 19 we see Jesus Christ return as the tribulation period comes to an end, coming with His Bride, the Church, to destroy all those who have rejected Him. A far cry from what Islam teaches!

In Sura 43:59 we are told "Jesus was no more than a mortal whom Allah revered and made an example to the Israelites." But, it also says in the Koran that Jesus is God, that He was virgin born, that He did do miracles. You see, the Koran contradicts itself! Also, the Koran expressly says that Christ was neither crucified nor killed by some other means. God raised him directly up into Heaven, as He did with Elijah. The Koran claims that God participated in a fraud or delusion on the witnesses. And yet we are told in I John 1:5, "This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all."

The Bible very clearly teaches that Jesus Christ is God. In Matthew 1:23 we are told of Jesus,"Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, ‘God with us.’" And in John 8:58 we read "Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.’" Jesus is the Great I AM, He is the second person of the Holy Trinity! The Bible is clear on that, it does not contradict itself, and it points to the fact that their Jesus is not our Jesus!

5. THE KORAN IS A HOLY BOOK WHOSE WORDS COME FROM OR ARE INSPIRED BY ALLAH

One of the more capable people of the twentieth-century, Dr. Tisdall, said as he studied the Koran:

"The Qur’an breathes the air of the desert, it enables us to hear the battle cries of the prophet’s followers as they rushed to the onset, it revels the working of Muhammad’s own mind, and shows the gradual declension of his character as he passed from the earnest and sincere though visionary enthusiast into the conscious imposter and open sensualist."

Also, keep in mind that like most people of his day, Mohammed was illiterate, he couldn’t read or write. Thus, he did not write the Koran but it was passed on by oral tradition and finally written down in 767 AD, over a century after the so-called prophet’s death!

Also, a specialist in Arabic calligraphy and Koranic paleography based at Saarland University, in Saarbrucken, Germany went to Yemen and their found a repository for ancient parchments. This specialist, Puin, felt the Koran was an evolving text rather than simply the Word of God as in its entirety given to the Prophet Muhammad in the seventh century. He looked at some 100,000 parchments that were passages, many which were deleted from the Koran. Von Bothmer, back in 1997 took more than 35,000 microfilm pictures back to Germany, and you can read of this article in the January 1999 issue of Atlantic Monthly. If the Koran is the word of Allah, if it supposedly was never changed, touched by human hands, then why do we see these deletions?

The Koran teaches that Allah created everything in a twinkling of an eye. Then it says in 2 days, 6 days, which is it, or maybe he forgot? The Koran teaches that Jesus is the Son of God and then He is not, which is it? The Koran blesses the Jews and Christians, and then curses them, calling for them to be put to death, which is it?

When it comes to science, the Koran is again off base and yet when it comes to the Bible it speaks very accurately on scientific issues, such as; the earth being a sphere, Isaiah 40:22; almost infinite extent of the universe, Isaiah 55:9; the law of conversation of mass and energy, II Peter 3:7; hydrologic cycle, Ecclesiastes 1:7; vast number of stars, Jeremiah 33:22; law of increasing entropy, Psalm 102:25-27; importance of blood in life processes, Leviticus 17:11; atmospheric circulation, Ecclesiastes 1:6; gravitational field, Job 26:7; Sea currents, Psalm 8:9, and the list goes on.

Now these are not stated in technical jargon of modern science, but in terms of the basic world of man’s every day experience, and yet they are completely in accord with the most modern scientific facts, and the Koran is not!

And listen to some of the teachings that are found in the Koran and see if you would feel comfortable adopting them into our society. Some of the teachings of Islam are:

  • Men are superior to women (Surah 2:228)
  • Women have half the rights of men; in court witness (Surah 2:282) and in inheritance (Surah 4:11)
  • A man may punish his wife by beating her (Surah 2:223)
  • A wife is a sex object for her husband (Surah 2:223)
  • A man may marry up to four wives at the same time (Surah 4:3)
  • Muslims must fight until their opponents submit to Islam (Surah 9:29)
  • A Muslim must not take a Jew or a Christian for a friend (Surah 5:51)
  • Stealing is punished by the amputation of the hands (Surah 5:38)
  • Adultery is punished by public flogging (Surah 24:2)
  • Resisting Islam is punished by death, crucifixion or the cutting off of the hands and feet (Surah 5:33)
  • Fate decides everyone’s eternal destination (Surah 17:13)
  • Every Muslim will pass through Hell (Surah 19:71)
  • Heaven in Islam is the place where a Muslim will be reclining, eating meats and delicious fruits, drinking exquisite wines, and engaging in sex with virgins (Surah 55:54-56) and Surah 52:17, 19)

On the other hand, we have adopted many of the things that God has said in His Word into our society and it has made our society a better place to live, not worse. Today we are removing some of those Biblical standards and our society is degenerating, not getting better!

We have the Word of God today, the Bible, which Paul tells us "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." II Timothy 3:16-17. All Scripture is breathed from the mouth of God and we can trust it, it is truth. And we see that, for as archeology catches up with what the Bible says, they find out that the Bible is correct. In fact, no one looks to the Koran to find historical sites, they speak of mythical places. But archeologists look to the Bible because it is accurate, and as they do, they discover those locations the Bibles speaks of, for it is true!

And the Bible is not a bunch of contradicting stories, but one unfolding story of God redeeming man from his sin, it is a love story that was composed over a 1,500 year time span, from around 1400 BC to 90 AD. Over 40 different authors penned the 66 books of the Bible, coming from a variety of walks of life. We see kings, peasants, fishermen, poets, statesman, scholars, and-so-on. Also, it was written in 3 different countries: Asia (Ezekiel in Babylon), Africa (Moses in the deserts of Sinai) and Europe (Paul wrote his letter to the Philippians in Rome). Also, it was written in 3 different languages; Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.

And again it remains one unfolding story of God’s love for man. It is as Geisler and Nix put it, "The "Paradise Lost’ in Genesis becomes the ‘Paradise Regained’ of Revelation. Whereas the gate to the tree of life is closed in Genesis, it is opened forever in Revelation." The Koran does not even come close to the Word of God in accuracy and morality!

Now the people of Islam, the Muslims may be shouting "For goodness sake, woman, sing, sing, SING!" But it won’t help cover up the ugliness of Islam, the brutality of Islam, the violence of Islam, the errors of Islam. You see, Jesus said very clearly in John 14:6, "...‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’"

There is no other way to God except through Jesus Christ! There is no other truth that we need for our spiritual lives that is found outside or apart of Jesus Christ and His Word. And there is only death found outside of Jesus for outside of Jesus a person is only destined to the Lake of Fire!

Now some of you may be wondering how all this relates to the beginning of sorrows, those birth pains we spoke of in Matthew chapter 24. Let me say this, I believe it is the Muslim countries that have made allies with Russia who will come down upon Israel to destroy her, as Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 tell us. Interestingly enough, chapter 37 comes before chapters 38 and 39, I know, that is brilliant, but what we see in chapter 37 of Ezekiel is the rebirth of the nation of Israel, which took place back in 1948. What is next on God’s prophetic time clock? I believe it is this war with Gog and Magog, Russia and her Muslim allies, which I then believe will usher this world into the 7 year tribulation period, with its culmination seeing the Lord’s return!

And for Islam, their time is quickly running out for them to take over the world for Allah. You see, in just some 70 years or so the oil supply will dry up, there will be no more oil! Thus, Islam must act now while it still has the petrodollar and petroleum reserves, for when that is gone, so too will be their influence upon the nations of this world!

With that as our background, and our understanding now of Islam and the Muslim faith, we will see next time what is going on in the Middle East which will lead us into the players in this war with Gog and Magog. And we will see that there is plenty of evidence that preparations are already underway for this attack against Israel, these nations are preparing for war!

Let me leave you with these words from Syrian president Hafez Assad, who said:

"The Arabs have lost five wars against Israel. We can afford to lose ninety-nine wars - we only need the hundredth war."

"We Arabs waited two hundred years to kick out the Crusaders from the holy land. The Israelis have only been here fifty years - so we can wait another one hundred and fifty years."

During the Gulf War from January to March, 1991, as Scud missiles were falling on Tel Aviv, Moslem residents of Ramallah would stand on their roof tops cheering the missiles as they flew overhead from east to west, chanting:

Oh Saddam, dear Saddam,
Strike at Tel Aviv
Oh Saddam, dear Saddam
Strike at the cross.

This war is being orchestrated as I speak, the players are being placed in position, and it is not only a war against Israel, but the cross, Christianity! And we will see how this will play out in our next study. As I close, let me leave you with these words from Jesus who said, "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." John 16:33. May we not forget that and may we share the love and truth of Jesus with those around us, including Muslims, for Jesus loves them as He loves all the people of the world. And as things may seem out of control in this world, keep in mind that God is still on the throne, and our peace is not going to be found in this world, but in Jesus!
