Ministry of Pastor Joe Guglielmo teachings through the Bible, verse by verse for a better understanding of Gods Word.

EXODUS 9:13-21

Please turn in your Bibles this morning to Exodus chapter 9 as we look at a very important topic – FEAR THE WORD OF THE LORD!  As a pastor I am not only to teach the people that God has entrusted to me the Words of God but I am also to warn you of the dangers that are out there. Paul put it like this in Acts 20:26-32, Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears. So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Paul was equipping these pastors for the work of the ministry by giving them the whole counsel of God. Not only that, he also warned them of the dangers that are out there and ones that are coming so they would not fall prey to these doctrines of demons.  Paul tells them that savage wolves will come into the church to destroy the people and savage wolves will arise from within the church, pastors and leaders to do the exact same thing – destroy the people with their doctrines of demons!

My hearts desire this morning is to teach you and warn you of this doctrine of demons, which is filling our world and is creeping into the church. Now, before we get to our text this morning, let me read to you this excerpt from Canada’s magazine, The Evangelical Christian. We are told:

“While we are sending missionaries to the Far East, that same area of the world is sending missionaries to us. Western governments and others seem at times to go out of their way to flatter the ancient but pagan religions, and often do much to undercut a vital influence that could be exercised in a spiritual mission to the world.

“Of particular note is the fact that ‘meditative religion’ such as Buddhism is gaining influence and power over the souls of men to an alarming degree. And as this material is being prepared for the press, a Toronto newspaper carries a full-page advertisement to the effect that there will be a series of articles on Yoga ‘exercises.’ The student of comparative religions will know that these are not physical exercises, although the body is used as a means to attain a state of suspension and relaxation, but only for the spirit or soul to seek an unattainable position in the ‘world soul.’ As an exercise it may have benefit. But the true Yogi does not stop with an exercise of the body and this could be a means of luring many unsuspecting, anxious seeking souls into the false religion of Buddhism. Let the people of God beware of these subtle maneuvers to instill pagan concepts into the spiritual life that can only be satisfied by the Lord Jesus Christ.”

- The Evangelical Christian, September 1960, p. 11,

“World Missionary News” by Douglas C. Percy, Editor

Do you know when this warning about eastern meditation was written?  Way back in September of 1960, almost 50 years ago and tragically, Christians did not heed the warning. Look at the number of churches that have yoga classes in them. And if you still don’t think this is an issue among Christians, Thomas Nelson Publishers put out a book called, “Yoga for Christians, a Christ-centered approach to physical and spiritual health through Yoga” by Susan Bordenkircher. And this is how the book is portrayed on the web sight of Thomas Nelson:

When God gave Susan Bordenkircher the vision for her yoga-based Christian ministry, Outstretched in Worship, she truly believed she was stepping into uncharted territory. And while God has used her ministry as a pioneer of sorts in this movement, she was amazed to see the level of interest and involvement that already existed. She quickly learned that there are approximately 15 million people in this country practicing yoga, and fully 50-60 percent of them say they come from a church background. In fact, many churches, Christian retreats, and denominational conventions are incorporating yoga as one creative approach to cultivating a quiet, receptive spirit and deep prayer life.

After producing several top-selling Christ-centered yoga instructional videos, Susan now brings her unique form of exercise, stretching, and prayerful praise to a market eager for yoga that is centered around Christ and not eastern forms of meditation. She has even included a full-length instructional workout DVD for readers to follow along with!

And folks, that is just the tip of the iceberg. Eastern mysticism and New Age doctrine is flooding into the church and very few Christians seem to be alarmed, in fact many are embracing these doctrines of demons.  There is much we can focus on but I want to narrow it down and look at “the lie” and how people are departing from the faith and receiving this false teaching into their lives.  I pray that this is a wake up call to the church because if they don’t repent of their sin and return to the Lord, judgment is coming. With that said, let’s begin reading in Exodus chapter 9, starting in verse 13 and see what the Lord has for us this morning.

EXODUS 9:13-21

Here in the seventh plague against Pharaoh and the Egyptians for not letting God’s people go, God rained down upon them hail mingled with fire and thus, many livestock and people out in the fields were destroyed.  What I want to focus on are verses 20-21 where we are told, He who feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his livestock flee to the houses. But he who did not regard the word of the Lord left his servants and his livestock in the field.

Did you notice that? Those who feared God’s Word, believed in His coming judgment and obeyed His voice were spared and those that rejected it were not!  Today there is a battle for the Word of God as John MacArthur wrote:

But while the Bible claims complete authority over our lives, many people do not always recognize the authority. Today’s “all truth is relative” way of thinking takes the Bible off its authoritative pedestal and places it on the shelf as “just another book.”

In an article written for Eternity magazine many years ago, D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones wrote words for the church of the ‘50s that are even more true for the church today. Lloyd-Jones points out that the attack on Scripture’s authority began in the middle of the eighteenth century with the beginning of what came to be known as the “higher critical” view of Scripture. Naturalistic presuppositions, along with man’s knowledge, new discoveries in science, and human reasoning and understanding, were all brought to bear in an attempt to analyze the Bible and “get at its real truth.” All of this developed into the movement we know as liberalism, which held sway throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Liberalism saw the Bible as full of errors, the work of men, and something to be accepted as having no more authority than the works of Shakespeare or Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

With the dawn of the twentieth century, a new movement began. Neo-orthodox thinkers tried to restore some of the Bible’s authority by reaffirming the sinfulness of man and claiming that while the Bible is not the Word of God, it “contains the Word of God.” As Lloyd-Jones describes it, “The Bible, we are told, is partly the Word of God and partly the word of man. In part it has great authority and in part is has not.”

Lloyd-Jones goes on to point out that this “partly God’s Word, partly man’s word” position leads to a view of the Bible that says that part of it is of great value but there are also other parts that are full of errors and that are “utterly useless and valueless.”  But, observes Lloyd-Jones, we are then faced with a very basic question: “Who decides what is true? Who decides what is of value?  How can you discriminate and differentiate between the great facts that are true and those that are false?  How can you differentiate between and separate facts from teaching? How can you separate this essential message of the Bible from the background in which it is presented? . . . The whole Bible comes to us and offers itself to us in exactly the same way. There is no hint, no suspicion of a suggestion that parts of it are important and parts are not.  They all come to us in the same form.

Liberalism and neo-orthodoxy are still with us in every conceivable shape and form. As Lloyd-Jones wrote in 1957, “The modern position amounts to this, that it is really man’s reasons that decide. You and I come to the Bible and we have to make our decisions on the basis of certain standards, which are obviously in our minds. We decide that one portion conforms to the message, which we believe, and that another does not. We are left still with the position, in spite of all the talk about a new situation today, that man’s knowledge and man’s understanding are the final arbiter and the final court of appeal.”

- John MacArthur, Why Believe The Bible, pp. 17-18

Once you take away the authority of the Word of God, then you are left with man deciding what he likes and what he doesn’t like, and that is a very dangerous place to be. And I have seen this as Christians deny what God’s Word says and counter it with, “God wants me to be happy!” I am sorry, God is not interested in your happiness, He is interested in your holiness and once you start picking and choosing what you like and don’t like, you have taken away the Word of God from your life!

Paul warned Timothy regarding the last days, Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons. I Timothy 4:1. You see, if the doctrine, if the teaching is not of God, then it is a doctrine of demons, what else can it be! And I believe that we are seeing that today at an alarming rate in the church, a departure from the faith. But before we look at that next time, I want to focus on this morning what is happening outside the church, the savage wolves that are proclaiming their destructive doctrines that are being embraced by the church.

Here is what I see happening. You may or may not agree with me, but hear me out on this. We are moving towards a global religion, which will have many aspects to it, but the chief one, I believe, is that we are god! It is what the New Age teaches and I truly believe this will be at the heart of the movement that will unite the world in a global religion.

I know, you may think that I am an alarmist, a little “out there” you might say, but again, hear me out and I think you will see that this doctrine of demons has spread worldwide!  Paul, in II Thessalonians 2:11 said, And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie.  Did you notice that it is not ‘the lies” but “the lie,” it is singular; it is a specific lie that will be adopted by the people of this world.

Also, Paul tells us in Romans 1:25, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Again, “the lie” and who did they worship? It says “the creature” and folks, think about it.  We are part of the creation, we are creatures and thus, not only is god in all things, but we are god and thus, we worship ourselves, the creature instead of the Creator!

Now when did this lie get started? Some say it was started in the Garden of Eden as the serpent said to Eve, Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, ‘Has God indeed said, “You shall not eat of every tree of the garden”?’ And the woman said to the serpent, ‘We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, “You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.”’ Then the serpent said to the woman, ‘You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.’  Genesis 3:1-5.

First of all he got Eve to doubt God’s Word, Has God indeed said.  Then, he got Eve to doubt God’s judgment, You will not surely die. And then he got Eve to doubt God’s love, that God was holding something back from Eve that was good for her. What was he holding back? You will be like God or God didn’t want Eve to know that she was a god! How forgetful are we, that we forgot that we are god and God is hiding that truth from us! Folks, that is the heart of the New Age and eastern mysticism and it did not begin in the Garden of Eden!

You see, it truly began in the heart of Lucifer for in Isaiah 14:12-15 we are told,How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.

You see, Lucifer who was created by God, he was the anointed Cherub, probably the worship leader in heaven, the top guy and yet, he wanted to be god. Thus, he exalted himself and God brought him down because he is not god, he never was god and he never will be god no matter how hard he tries. Thus, it began with Lucifer, and then he infected man in the Garden of Eden with this lie and it continues on today at an alarming rate!

According to the New Age, for the last 2,000 years we have been in the sign of “Pisces” the fish.  But now we are moving into the sign of “Aquarius” or the Age of Aquarius. What does this mean? Ray Yungen, in his book For Many Shall Come in My Name, tells us:

They believe that during these transitions certain cosmic influences begin to flow into the mass consciousness of mankind and cause changes to occur in accordance with the spiritual key-note or theme of that particular Age. This phenomenon is known as planetary transformation – an event they believe will bring universal oneness to all mankind. The view is that as more and more members of the human race attune themselves to Aquarian energies, the dynamics of the old age will begin to fade out.

To just what energies are we supposed to attune ourselves? New Age thought teaches that everything that exists, seen or unseen, is made up of energy – tiny particles of vibrating energy, atoms, molecules, protons, etc. All is energy. That energy, they believe, is God, and therefore, all is God. They believe that since we are all part of this God-energy, then we, too, are God. God is not seen as a Being that dwells in heaven, but as the universe itself. According to one writer, “Simply put, God functions in you, through you, and as you.”

The Age of Aquarius is when we are all supposed to come to the understanding that man is God. As one New Age writer put it:

A major theme of Aquarius is that God is within. The goal of the Age of Aquarius will be how to bring this idea into meaningful reality.

- Ray Yungen, For Many Shall Come in My Name, p. 17

Like I said, this is the major theme of the New Age, we are god and it goes along these lines:

  • All that exists is God.
  • All Mankind is part of that divinity.
  • In each person, there dwells the higher self, which is the divine essence of that person.
  • The higher self is the guide to realizing the wisdom of the universe.
  • Meditation (stilling the mind of thought) is the way to connect with the higher self.
  • A person can control his own reality once he has contacted the higher self, working in unison with its powers.

Years ago New Age material was found either in a New Age bookstore or at the back of a regular bookstore and only on a few shelves. Today, you don’t find New Age bookstores; you don’t need to because these New Age books are found everywhere, even in Christian bookstores and not in the back of the store, but throughout!

This rise to mainstream popularity has been helped by celebrities like Oprah Winfrey who, this January 1st on her XM Satellite radio show, “Oprah and Friends” began airing a course taught by Marianne Williamson, who is a leading New Age guru.

The course that she is teaching for one hour each day is called, “A Course in Miracles.”  The yearlong course will completely cover the 365 lessons from the Course in Miracles "Workbook."

A Course in Miracles is allegedly "new revelation" from "Jesus" to help humanity work through these troubled times by giving us the knowledge to speed up our evolution in our journey to oneness with all creation and with God who is really us.

Warren Smith says concerning this, “This ‘Jesus’ – who bears no doctrinal resemblance to the Bible’s Jesus Christ – began delivering his channeled teachings in 1965 to a Columbia University Professor of Medical Psychology by the name of Helen Schucman.

One day Schucman heard an ‘inner voice’ stating, ‘This is a course in miracles. Please take notes.’ For seven years she diligently took spiritual dictation from this inner voice that described himself as ‘Jesus.’

The 1200 page Course in Miracles was quietly published in 1975 by the Foundation for Inner Peace. For many years ‘the Course’ was an underground cult classic for New Age seekers who studied ‘the Course’ individually, with friends, or in small study groups.”

That is until Marianne Williamson came on the Oprah Winfrey show in 1992 and Oprah introduced her as the author of a new book—“My favorite book”—“A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course in Miracles.”

And this is what Oprah said, “Marianne is a leader in a philosophy that I personally know could change the world. I believe that in my heart. I have read many books over the years but I have never been moved by a book like I have by Marianne Williamson’s ‘A Return to Love’. So moved in fact that I went out and bought a thousand copies and will be giving each of you one before you leave here today. I really believe that the message in ‘A Return to Love’ is the message that we all need in our lives. If it sounds like I’m trying to hype the book I really am! It’s the first time you can open a book and actually see some answers.”

Oprah's endorsement skyrocketed Williamson's book about A Course in Miracles to the top of the New York Times bestseller list.

Oprah is now pushing The New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle. “Oprah has become a fountainhead for New Age poison; there is no false prophet she will not promote to millions.”

We need to be wise as John admonishes us, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Don’t believe everything you hear but place it in the light of God’s Word! Now, what did this so-called Jesus have to say to Helen Schucman and she wrote in her book, A Course in Miracles that have so many people captivated? Listen carefully:

  • A "slain Christ has no meaning." 10
  • "The journey to the cross should be the last 'useless journey.'"11
  • "Do not make the pathetic error of 'clinging to the old rugged cross.'"12
  • "The Name of Jesus Christ as such is but a symbol. . . . It is a symbol that is safely used as a replacement for the many names of all the gods to which you pray." 13
  • "God is in everything I see."14
  • "The recognition of God is the recognition of yourself."15
  • "The oneness of the Creator and the creation is your wholeness, your sanity and your limitless power." 16
  • "The Atonement is the final lesson he [man] need learn, for it teaches him that, never having sinned, he has no need of salvation."17
  • “For the undoing of the crucifixion of God’s Son is the work of the redemption, in which everyone has a part of equal value.” (Text, p. 209)
  • “The song of Easter is the glad refrain the Son of God was never crucified.” (Text, p. 428)
  • “You are not persecuted, nor was I.” (Text, p. 94)
  • “There is no sin; it has no consequence.” (Workbook, p. 183)
  • “Innocence is wisdom because it is unaware of evil, and evil does not exist.” (Text, p. 38)
  • “Those who oppose the ‘Christ’ in the Course in Miracles are Antichrist.”

Warren Smith gives some examples of the lessons in A Course in Miracles workbook:

“For example, Lesson #29 asks you to go through your day affirming that ‘God is in everything I see.’  Lesson #61 tells each person to repeat the affirmation ‘I am the light of the world.’ Lesson #70 teaches the student to say and believe ‘My salvation comes from me.’  By the end of the year, ‘Oprah & Friends’ listeners will have completed all of the lessons laid out in the Course in Miracles Workbook.

Those who finish the Course will have a wholly redefined spiritual mindset – a New Age worldview that includes the belief that there is no sin, no evil, no devil, and that God is ‘in’ everyone and everything.  A Course in Miracles teaches its students to rethink everything they believe about God and life. The Course Workbook bluntly states: ‘This is a course in mind training’ and is dedicated to ‘thought reversal.’”  [Sounds like what is being said in the emerging church!]

But it does not end there. Lighthouse Trails said that:

On April 5th, The Moses Code film will be released in a "unique synchronized worldwide opening", just a few weeks after this week's release of the book with the same title. The book and film will most likely become best sellers with expected promotion by Oprah Winfrey and others of influence. The book/film is following the release of last year's The Secret, which has remained on the New York Times Best Seller list for over 59 weeks. The Secret, also a book/film, was highly promoted by Oprah and carries a similar-type message. In essence, both projects focus on humanity being divine and having the ability to alter our personal lives and ultimately alter the world in which we live through hidden mysteries that the projects supposedly reveal.

The publisher of The Moses Code details the theme of the project:

Is it possible that nearly 3,500 years ago, Moses was given the secret for attracting everything you've ever desired? The Moses Code was first used to create some of the greatest miracles in the history of the world, but then it was hidden away, and only the highest initiates were allowed to practice it. In this book, James F. Twyman reveals the Code for the first time, showing how it can be used to create miracles in your life . . . and in the world. By practicing the principles presented within these pages, you'll discover how you can integrate the most powerful manifestation tool in the history of the world into your own life.

The Moses Code is a kind of sequel or next step to The Secret that focused on the Law of Attraction, which, if practiced faithfully, promises to help one obtain his or her hopes and dreams. The Secret tells readers and viewers how this is possible: "You are God in a physical body ... You are all power ... You are all intelligence ... You are the creator"(p. 164). Incidentally, the author of The Secret, Rhonda Byrne, thanks a group of spirit guides called Abraham for "their inspirational teachings" (p. xv).

Now, The Moses Code takes followers further along the metaphysical road:

You may have been told that this Law is all about "getting" the things you want--things that you think will make your life more satisfying. But what if that's just the first step, and cracking the Moses Code depends more on what you're willing to "give" rather than "get." That would mean that you have the power to create miracles in your life right now! It would also mean that you have the ability, even the responsibility, to use that power for more than just attracting money, a better car, or the perfect relationship. You're here to use the power of Divinity itself to create a world based on the laws of compassion and peace. That's the task that lies before us.

In a YouTube trailer preview of The Moses Code, viewers are instructed to say to themselves I AM statements to help affirm their own divinity and power. In one segment, a man says, "I am the way, I am the truth, I am the light [life]."

Lighthouse Trails spoke with a Moses Code staff member on March 3rd and was told that the film "was re-edited in a significant way" which led "to re-edit the trailer as well." The new trailer (which can be seen on the Moses Code website) is much different than the original one. Dropping from over 5 minutes to 1:41 minutes, the new trailer omits the I AM statements as well as any mention of some of the New Agers who are involved with the project (such as Neale Donald Walsch). In fact, the new trailer focuses mostly on the Old Testament Moses and could lead some to believe this is a Christian film about the patriarch, Moses. However, as can be seen on the Moses Code website, there is a who's who of the New Age involved with this effort.

In The Secret, many New Age "teachers" were part of the project including Neale Donald Walsch, Michael Beckwith, Jack Canfield, and John Gray (Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus). The Moses Code project has a far more extensive line up of New Age presenters including Neale Donald Walsch, Andrew Harvey, Cheryl Richardson, James van Praagh, Debbie Ford, Michael Beckwith, and a number of others who are dedicated to the New Age vision for the world.

The Moses Code trailer explains that on April 6th, hundreds of thousands of people are going to have the opportunity to come together in small groups around the world to "radiate this peace and use this technology [the Moses Code] focusing on the Middle East." On the Moses Code website it explains why this is being done: "It is clear to most people by now that when large groups of people gather together for a single, focused reason, miracles happen."

Those who have studied New Age philosophy know that New Agers believe that when a critical mass (said to be based on a physics law) comes together in meditation, the rest of humanity will be drawn in (through a kind of spiritual magnetization), and in this oneness, the earth will be healed. The prerequisite for this to happen is a global, mass meditation by people who believe they are divine and co-creators in the universe.

The Moses Code says that mysticism is the avenue through which we enter a "frequency" that draws us into a sacred space called God, and this frequency can be entered by turning to the I AM field which "helps initiate and enhance sacred experiences.... the potential is promising, particularly with regard to assisting the I AM THAT I AM breathing exercises ... developed for the Moses Code." In an interviewwith Moses Code author James Twyman, Twyman says that this process was originally called the Maharishi Effectwhich began with Transcendental Meditation practitioners.

It appears that with the mass success of The Secret, a new threshold had been crossed with the public's acceptance of metaphysical practices and philosophies. What the Moses Code is designed for is to take this acceptance to a new level. The people behind these projects know that they have a narrow window of opportunity to saturate Western society before people become bored or skeptical. Everywhere one looks these days one finds people turning to the mystical and supernatural for the answers to their problems. One prominent Rabbi, who writes on current social conditions, has written that 40% of middle-aged men and 33% of middle-aged women suffer from various degrees of depression.

What better appeal would seem attractive to these millions of people than being able to change their circumstances in a quick and timely fashion. This is what books like The Secret and The Moses Code are offering, and the biblical gospel is seen by these millions as outdated and irrelevant. Our job as Christians is to proclaim the opposite, and in so doing preserve the only message that offers eternal life through Jesus Christ to those who receive Him by faith.

         - Lighthouse Trails, The Moses Code – Taking the Next Step Toward a Worldwide Awakening

Coming on the heels of The Secret, the New Spirituality teachers featured in The Moses Code are hoping that by teaching everyone about the power of declaring themselves God, they can help along the “Shift” in planetary consciousness that everyone is talking about today. The Shift is the name of another movie under production featuring New Spirituality gurus like Deepak Chopra and Marianne Williamson, alongside leftist environmentalists like Al Gore and religious figures such as Archbishop Desmond TuTu. Their message is the same, as though it was taken from the same script, and the reality is, that is the case!  As I have said, “the lie” is nothing more than a doctrine of demons to lead people to the pit of Hell. They are false prophets waving people down this destructive path that doesn’t say “Hell” but it says “Heaven” but it is a false heaven!  As we are told, “A massive worldwide phenomenon is in progress, offering seeds of great hope for the future . . . We are in the middle of the biggest social transformation in history, THE SHIFT.”

Why is this such a big deal? Why is this so important to us?  Because we need to be aware of what is taking place so we don’t fall prey to these destructive doctrines.  Imagine swimming in the beaches off of Florida and there are sharks in the water but no warning signs about the sharks. Why? Because that is too negative, we want a positive message about this beach.  We laugh and think that is outrageous and yet, when it comes to our faith and warning of the dangers that are out there, people don’t want to hear it!

Secondly, I believe this is showing where we are at on God’s prophetic time clock. You see, Jesus said in Matthew 24:5, For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.  Also, in Luke 21:7-8 we are told, So they asked Him, saying, ‘Teacher, but when will these things be? And what sign will there be when these things are about to take place?’ And He said: ‘Take heed that you not be deceived. For many will come in My name, saying, “I am He,” and, “The time has drawn near.” Therefore do not go after them.’

As you read that you may come to the conclusion that Jesus is talking about those weird people who will claim to be Christ, they were around in the early church and they are around today, but I think there is more to it than that. You see, many will come Jesus tells us in Matthew and in Luke 21:8 the word “He” was added, it was not in the original manuscript. The King James writers inserted “Christ” and the New King James writers put “He” there, implying Christ, but that is not what the text says. It really says, “Many shall come saying ‘I AM.’”  In other words, in the last days there will be many people claiming that they are god; many will claim that and we see that happening today!

Listen carefully to the following quotes of New Age teachers and you will see that what Jesus has said is happening right before our eyes!  We are told:

The first experience of unification with the Christ consciousness may come with the initial crossing of the psychic barrier and contact with the Christ Self or I AM Self.

- Anne P. and Peter V. Meyer, Being a Christ, p. 49

This Inner Self is called by many names such as: God-self, Higher-self, Christ Consciousness, I-AM, Buddha Nature, and many others.

- John Baughman, The New Age, p. 5

This I Am is God . . . This I AM is You.  . . . Universe and Individual Consciousness. . . . God knowing Itself as God, God knowing Itself as You, and You knowing Yourself as God.

- John Randolph Price, The Planetary Commission, p. 98

Every man is an individual Christ; this is the teaching for the New Age. The experiences of contacting the Christ Self and the subsequent vibrational lifting are not to be reserved for a favored few. Every person in the world, sooner or later, will receive this lifting action. No one will be left out or left behind. Everyone will receive the benefit of this step in human evolution.

- Armand Biteaux, The New Consciousness, p. 128

Could it be that many Christians have been looking for “the Christ” in all the wrong places? Could it be that when Jesus said “no man knoweth the hour” of his return, it was because the return of the Christ comes now; within us, and is beyond space and time?

Jesus may have been hinting at this when he told us that ‘the kingdom of God is within you – not in some time, nor in some place, but within. When we look within, through meditation and the expansion of consciousness, we move beyond time, and meet face-to-face with the Christ.

         - Gregory Barrette, The Christ is Now (Science of Mind, March 1989) p. 17

The Christ is You. You are the one who is to come – each of you.  Each and every one of you!

- Life Times, Vol. 1, No. 3, p. 91

Christhood is not something to come at a point in the future when you are more evolved. Christhood is – right now! I am the Christ of God You are the Christ of God.

- John Randolph Price, The Planetary Commission, pp. 143, 145

I realize you have been given a lot of information this morning that you will need to think about, but I hope you can see that “the lie” that the Scriptures speak of is the lie we are seeing right now, that we are god!  And understand that the world is not going to become agnostic, they will be very religious but as Paul told Timothy regarding these last days that we are living in, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!  II Timothy 3:5.  You see, they are religious, they have a form of godliness, they may even speak of Christ, but they deny the power!

What is that power that they are denying? You may have several ideas, but I think there is one that Paul is speaking of. Paul, in Romans 1:16 put it like this, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.  You see, they deny the power and the power is found in the Gospel, the Good News that can save a sinner who comes to Christ, but apart from that truth, you will die in your sins!  You have denied the power of God to salvation!  And the tragedy, for which I have laid the groundwork this morning, is that this garbage is coming into the church, not trickling in, but flooding in and we will look at that next time. And as we will see, this is all flowing into the one world religion!

As I begin to rap this up this morning, just a few more minutes, keep in mind that the Egyptians who feared the Word of the Lord, who obeyed what the Lord said, where spared from this judgment upon them.  Those that didn’t were destroyed!  I pray that those who have fallen asleep in the faith, those who are moving down this New Age path, would awaken and heed the truths of God found in the Word of God, which covers Genesis through Revelation, all Scripture is giving by inspiration of God!  If you don’t then you will face the judgment of God.

Let me leave you with this to think about.

I AM GOD! This is THE most basic tenant of Metaphysical spiritual understanding.

- A Metaphysical teacher

You are God in a physical body. . . . You are all power. . . . You are all intelligence. . . . You are the creator.

- The Secret

Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the Lord? And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is none besides Me. Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.

- Isaiah 45:21-22

He who has the Son [not higher consciousness] has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

- I John 5:12

So who are you going to believe? Who are you going to trust?  Only the Lord gives life and He gives it to us abundantly if we would only trust in Him!  Next time we will look at how this eastern mysticism and New Age teachings have entered the church and what we as Bible believing Christians need to do. Learn the lesson as Moses told us, He who feared the word of the Lord among the servants of Pharaoh made his servants and his livestock flee to the houses. But he who did not regard the word of the Lord left his servants and his livestock in the field.
